This range is being built slowly and on one principle: a decoration should be good enough to want out of the box again next year. That rules out most of what is sold at Christmas, and it is why there is one piece here rather than forty.

How to choose
Buy fewer, better pieces. Ten cheap ornaments cost more than three good ones and look worse, and the good ones are the ones that come back out. Metal, glass and wood age; printed plastic does not.
Favour pieces that are not exclusively Christmas. Anything in aged metal or natural wood can stay up into the new year, which is the difference between decorating a house and dressing a set.
